Shana started at Cedar Valley in November 2020 and is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Shana draws on about 12 years of experience working with people in a variety of settings including in-home therapies, assisted living, group homes, treatment centers for chemical dependency, and outpatient therapy. A large part of her work has been centered around teaching skills to manage fluctuations in emotions and how to communicate effectively to get needs met. She has more recently completed a certification in Nutritional Psychology and enjoys providing education on how nutrition impacts mood and mental health. Some other interests of hers include trauma and women’s health. She enjoys meeting clients where they are at and exploring what works for them. Shana utilizes a holistic approach in that she believes the mind, body, spirit, and environment impact functioning. She often utilizes the following modalities: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), behavioral techniques, trauma focused techniques, play therapy, client centered therapy, and group therapy settings. Shana has worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from age 5 to elderly.
